Running Program

two kids runningPalms physical education classes have Lap Days and the Mile Run:

  • On Lap Day, students run for 15 minutes to see how many laps they can complete. Some students run the entire time, some jog, and some "power walk." Lap Day is weekly. The day may depend on the weather.
  • On the Mile Run, students are timed running one mile. The Mile Run is once a month. These times are used to qualify students for the Mile Challenge in April.

The grades from these runs are only a portion of the student's grades. If a child receives a grade below a "C" the run can be made up at lunchtime. Teachers grade students at their discretion.
