Sixth Grade Olympics

6th grade Olympics

The Palms Sixth Grade Olympics is an annual event first held in February 2012.

Sixth grade students who are eligible for grade-level activities are fueled up with hot dogs, chips, and drinks. A torch bearing ceremony precedes the games, as one student from each homeroom passes the torch. An assistant principal then proclaims "Let the games begin!"

Homerooms compete against each other in relays, including sack races, bat balancing, water filling, and balloon balancing.

Winners receive candy, late-homework passes, and an opportunity to miss one P.E. lap day. After their Olympic performances they deserve the break!

The Sixth Grade Olympics are a joint effort of the P.E. Department, the 6th grade teachers, and the Counseling Office.
