Device Liability Policy

Palms students are issued textbooks, library books, iPads, Chromebooks, and/or other instructional material.

Under California Education Code and LAUSD policy, parents or guardians are legally liable for LAUSD property that a student loses, fails to return, or willfully damages.

Parents and guardians should download and review the Device Liability Policy document below.

Procedures

If a device or other school property is reported lost or damaged, the school will notify the student's family, who can meet with school administrators to discuss the situation. If parent responsibility is determined for lost or willfully damaged school property, restitution may be required.

With some exceptions, failure to resolve restitution may result in the withholding of grades and transcripts, and students may not be able to participate in dances, field trips, culmination, or other activities.

If you have questions regarding device care, responsibility, or the restitution process, please contact the school.
