Magnet Transportation

school bus

Transportation is provided for Magnet students according to the LAUSD District Guidelines. Palms Magnet students may be eligible for transportation to a magnet school if they reside outside of a 2-mile radius "as the crow flies" (in linear miles), not the length of the route as shown by Google Maps.

If your child is eligible to receive transportation, the LAUSD Transportation Services Division will notify you by mail of the pick-up and drop-off location and time, before the opening of school, usually in late July or early August, shortly before school starts. The bus stop locations are based on where the majority of bussed students live, and may not be very convenient for all students.

There is no application process, since notifications are automatic.

Other facts:

  • The buses leave 10 minutes after the school day ends, so students should proceed directly from their last class to their bus on Palms Blvd.
  • Students are not required to take the bus, for example if they've made other arrangements on a given day.
