Emergency Preparedness
Be There to Prepare!
On Back to School Night, 7th grade health and science students host an Emergency Preparedness Fair. It's a fun and informative evening with:
- Emergency preparedness giveaways
- Raffles
- Student-made posters, table displays, and Powerpoint presentations
Parents get a chance to stop by, view the exhibits, and talk to our students.

The Great California Shakeout
Every year LAUSD participates in the Great California ShakeOut. Palms wants everyone to be ready for a major earthquake. We'll pretend there has been a natural disaster, so we evacuate students to the P.E. field. We'll also practice search and rescue simulations.
If your child must be picked up after a real emergency, someone authorized on your child's Emergency Information Card must request your child from the Request Gate on the south side of Palms Blvd. near Kelton Avenue, show identification, and then wait for your child to be brought to you at the Reunion Gate, further east along the south side of Palms Blvd. See the map on the Health and Safety page.
Palms holds its Shake Out Drill on the same day as the state, or close to it. Shake Out Drill at Palms Great California ShakeOut (Third Thursday in October) |

Palms students and their families can:
