Past Fitness Test Results
The LAUSD California Physical Fitness Test test evaluates students in multiple areas: push-ups, curl-ups, one-mile run, etc., as well as computing their body mass index (BMI), a measure of body fat based on height and weight. For each measure, the percentage of students reaching their target is determined.
In the tables below, the highest measure in each category is shown in bold.
2019 Results (Grade 7, Spring 2019)
Palms outscored LAUSD averages in all 6 fitness categories, and exceeded California state averages in 4 of the 6 categories.
Both Palms boys and girls topped LAUSD and California averages in Aerobic Capacity, Body Composition, Trunk Extension Strength, and Flexibility, but trailed California averages in Abdominal Strength and Upper Body Strength.
2018 Results (Grade 7, Spring 2018)
Palms outscored LAUSD averages in 5 of 6 fitness categories, and exceeded California state averages in 3 of 6 categories.
Both Palms boys and girls topped LAUSD and California averages in Aerobic Capacity, Body Composition, Trunk Extension Strength, and Flexibility, but trailed California averages in Abdominal Strength and Upper Body Strength.
2017 (Grade7, Spring 2017)
Palms outscored LAUSD averages in 4 of 6 fitness categories, tied LAUSD in 1 category, and exceeded California state averages in 4 of 6 categories.

Palms students were again more fit than most LAUSD students. Palms boys scored above LAUSD averages on 6 out of 8 measures. Palms girls scored above LAUSD averages on 6 out of 8 measures and the same as the LAUSD average on 1 measure.
2008 (Grade 7, Spring 2008)
Palms students were more fit than most LAUSD students. Palms boys scored above LAUSD averages on 6 out of 9 measures. Palms girls scored above average or well above average on all 9 measures.
