Día de los Muertos Celebrations

Altar in downtown Santa Monica

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, Palms Middle School students participated in the Downtown Santa Monica Día de los Muertos Celebration on the Third Street Promenade.

Students from our Spanish World Language Immersion Program wrote about loved ones who had passed away, and honored them in the Palms Middle School Altar.

Altar at the Santa Monica HIstory Museum


On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the altar will be displayed at the Santa Monica History Museum.

The Palms Ballet Folklórico Son de la Palma will perform at the Día de los Muertos Celebration, the only middle school participating.

The event is coordinated by Dr. Guadalupe Mireles-Toumayan, Spanish teacher from Santa Monica High School.

Hope for Unity Art Exhibit

Hope for Unity Art Exhibit

The Hope for Unity Art Exhibit and a Peace Poster Contest was sponsored by art supply store Baller Art Ware.

Students submitted an image of their artwork.

The art exhibit took place from Saturday, October 24 to Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Neutra Institute Gallery & Museum.

Palms Community Clean-Up Day

Palms Neighborhood Clean Up Day

Community members joined the Palms Neighborhood Council to clean along Exposition Boulevard on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The goal of the project was for everyone to have an enjoyable time and meet new neighbors while we beautified our community.

Breakfast foods were available in the morning, and pizza was served for lunch.

Former Palms student Chloe Cheng, when a student at Venice High School, won a gold medal at IESO, the International Earth Science Olympiad, in Korea. Chloe is pictured below, holding the American flag near the blue corner with the stars.

Tori Corpuz
Palms alumna Tori Corpuz, when at Venice High, spent a year interning at Venice Paparazzi. The blog reported that Tori headed to UCSD to study structural engineering. Take a look at the archive of her posts about Venice Beach.

2018 Mar Vista Community Fall Festival

The festival took place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Mar Vista Recreation Center, with music provided by Palms students.
