The LAUSD Winter Academy is a 3-day program on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the first week of Winter Break. It gives students a chance for enrichment, fun, or to boost their academic achievement.
The enrollment period is open, at enroll.lausd.net. The deadline is Monday, November 13, 2023. Students will receive their confirmation letters during the week of December 1, along with their school assignment and the daily schedule.
Facts:
- Enrichment will include workshops for Advanced Placement classes, science activities, media literacy classes, history lessons, STEAM workshops, and more.
- Instruction will include guided opportunities to improve grades, course extensions, performance assessment support, assignment support, and activities focused on college and career readiness.
- Students will be assigned to a local school. Winter Academy sites include Daniel Webster Middle School, Mark Twain Middle School, Marina Del Rey Middle School, and Orville Wright Engineering and Design Magnet, but not Palms Middle School.
- Breakfast and lunch will be served.
- Transportation will be provide to students who have transportation during the semester.
Winter Academy is optional, and will not affect attendance, but LAUSD encourages all students to attend.
