Día de los Muertos
Advanced Art students do Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) projects in the Fall, recognizing the Mexican holiday celebrated on October 31, November 1, and November 2.
The holiday honors and remembers family and friends who have died.
Student Angyl Wright's 2015 project consisted of this oil pastel and poem:
Always and Forever
When you lose somebody close to you,
It hurts so much that it may leave a permanent hole in you heart,
Every year that you might celebrate.......
Celebrate the life that they have lived.
You might dance on their grave,
And remembering the moments that the two of you have shared,
You might bring their favorite flowers with you, And somehow, someway you know that their spirit is with you,
Protecting you from harm Always and forever!
